Some things never change. No matter how old you are.
When I was little I hated going to sleep early on Friday and Saturday nights. I would stay up late in my bedroom, sometimes cleaning but most of the time reading books or watching a movie or two. Even as a teenager my favorite night time movies were Disney. Mulan and Hercules are still two of my favorites.
Well last night I got into one of these moods. We have given in to the Netflix temptation and so far we love it. As we were watching Psych last night Cody fell asleep on the couch. I forgot to mention the late night snacks I would eat to. When I was younger I would drink a whole gallon of Raspberry Lemonade. I would sneak into the kitchen at about 11:30 when every one else was just about asleep and make an entire pitcher of the stuff, put it into a water bottle and creep back up the stairs. Sometimes I would make popcorn or taquitos, basically anything that sounded delicious in the middle of the night.
Back to last night, as I was sitting on the couch I felt like it was one of these midnight snack times. As I was making a chip dip Cody woke up and asked what time it was and what could I possibly be thinking. Well, needless to say, when I brought the warm, delicious dip in the living room he shot right up.

I've decided that you just never grow out of some things. I don't think I will ever grow out of late nights watching movies just to stay up late with good snacks.

Dinner... The Complete Disaster

So tonight as we were watering our garden, which is huge by the way and will produce wonderfully delicious foods, I decided that steak and potatoes would be a great dinner.

As we were waiting for the steaks to do its magic on the grill, Cody's stomach started not feeling so well. He put me in charge of watching the steak. Well... the thing about asking me to do something like that is that I don't always remember and I get distracted easily.

Needless to say, one side looks perfect and smells amazing.
While the other looks like a giant lump of charcoal.

We also have a smart cat friend who decided that it (because I am not sure if it is a boy or a girl cat) wanted to join us for dinner. After I saw flames over a foot high I decided my pathetic little fork was no match for these monsters. I left the door open and by the time I walked back outside with tongs our little feline friend was just about inside the bag of cat food. Tricky little bugger.

Since we have moved to Burley we have seen a total of 2 full days of sunshine. Other than that it has been raining, the entire time.

I didn't even want to leave the house today because of how gloomy it looks outside.

With all this rain out, planting has been a little tough for the guys. They are out in the tractor as much as possible and until late into the night. Today started out as a nice day, sunny but a little windy. Wind is not an occasional thing for this area. Cody was out in the field working and didn't want to stop because they needed to get as much planted as they could before the bad weather came in.
As I was getting lunch ready I heard it start to rain a little bit outside. Thinking it wasn't too bad outside I just throw on my running shoes and head out the door, thank goodness I grabbed a jacket. By the time I parked the car and started walking into the field it was pouring! By the time I got to the tractor (after RUNNING through mud puddles) I was drenched from head to toe!

Cody was very grateful which made it all worth it. But he kept laughing at how wet I really was. Good thing I like him. A lot.

But other than Cody working, I am still on the hunt for a job. Hopefully by the end of this week I will have something figured out. I have to admit how nice it is just to sit in my own cute home and not have to worry about waking up at 3:30AM or worry about what I didn't get finished that day at work and will have to do tomorrow.

I finished the "Hunger Games" series last week and it was amazing. I hesitated for a long time and did not at all want to read it. It took me three weeks to read the first 50 pages but after that I was hooked and had the next two books in the series read by the next week.

Summer is going to come and go by too quickly, I can see that already. But I am excited for nice weather. For good BBQ food, hamburgers, potato salad (which I am not aloud to make in my own home because Cody doesn't like mayonnaise), outside games, water fights. But most of all I am excited to see family. Both sides. I love my family so much, I honestly don't know what either Cody or I would do without them.

The funny things that Cody says...

Cody says funny things. Tonights comment went like this.

We are sitting on the couch watching the movie Twister, he LOVES twister.
"Do you remember the first time you saw this movie?" Of course his voice is full of excitement.
"No, why would I?" I know, sometimes I can be mean. "Do you?"
"YEA! Of course, it was my first PG-13 movie."

Oh how I love that boy. He is so full of life and excitement. The movie Twister makes him smile. Who can honestly remember their first PG-13 movie?! I am still laughing.

Happy monday!

Post influenza bronchitis...
What the heck is that?
Apparently that is what I have. Last Thursday I went to the doc in the box. She told me she had no idea what was wrong with me. This morning I went in again but this time they told me it was post influenza (meaning that is what I had last week) and its toward the ending stages of bronchitis.

Today was not my favorite day, in fact it was one of the worst in a long time. But Cody makes days like today just a little bit easier. My day went a little like this: Got less than 3 hours of sleep from couching. Woke up late. All my work shirts were wet in the washer. Got to work 20 minutes late. Dr tells me all I can do is just let it work its way out. Wait it out. Left my wallet at home, can't buy breakfast. Got in trouble with one of the administrators. It goes on... But onto the point of my story. When I got home Cody just gave me a big hug. Well first he hid in the closet so I could not find him until he came out laughing so hard. I have been craving hamburgers lately. No I am not pregnant. It is the only thing that really sounds good to eat lately but it has to  be fast food. So Cody, sensing I was not in a cooking mood tonight also because he had class until 10 tonight, took me to DQ for some tasty burgers. Thats it. Nothing fancy, nothing special. Just DQ hamburgers. But that made my day. It is nice to not have to worry about trying to explain how you feel or what you are thinking about. By now we have pretty much got this whole mind reading thing down. Cody just knows when I need a hamburger. I love it. And I love him. He is great.

Also I took wedding pictures this weekend. Check out the sneak peak!

Hope no one else is too sick. If you are, I am sorry to hear. Just make sure you have a lot of clean comfy clothes and good movies and books.

Why being sick isn't always a bad thing...

I have been sick for four days now. It takes a toll on you. Not only physically but also emotionally. So instead of complaining about how much it sucks to be sick, I'll give you a list of reasons why it's not quite so bad.

1. Less laundry. If you are like me, all you wear is your pajamas, you just saved a whole load of specials for next week or until you actually wear normal clothes again.

2. A great ab work out. If you are like me and have been coughing your guts out, by day three you will have rock solid abs. By the time a week has passed you will practically have a six pack.
3. People actually want to see you on drugs.
4. You have a great excuse to not clean. (I think this is my favorite)
5. After not being able to really eat anything for a few days your husband is much more willing to go get you McD's french fries because it is the only thing that sounds good to eat.
(I am my mother's child. Once in a while you just need those nasty looking, greasy, salty french fries. I have not been to McD's since I met Cody. He absolutely despises the place.)
6. You have a better chance to become acquainted with netflix/redbox/hulu, whatever website has the TV shows or movies you need to keep you emotionally sane.
7. No one bothers you because they don't want to get sick. Which is probably a good thing because the apartment is a wreck from not cleaning.
8. You can finish your book that you have been working on.
9. Catching up on sleep... need I say more?

Other than being sick...
Cody has been going to school.
I have been working.
And getting excited for a wedding in two days!

We have been packing.
And getting excited to move.
And smiling,
laughing
and
loving each other's company.

Have a Great weekend!!!

A Valentines without the paper & chocolate hearts.

This year instead of doing a big fancy date and decorating the apartment, we decided to do something different. Because we are trying to start getting things organized, Cody thought it would be pointless to decorate for a week or two. Instead of doing a nice fancy dinner, he got me a massage! Work has been stressful and I come home crying at times. It is so hard for me to work under conditions that make the entire company look bad but have my opinion not matter at all.
So a massage was just what I needed.

We are also going snowboarding this evening. Fingers crossed I wont be too sore next week!

I have made a decision, well more of a discovery.
I want to shoot a lot more black and white. A lot more just on the interactive and unexpected shots. More candids.

Things that I am really looking forward to are:
  • summertime dresses and shorts
  • my chacos I haven't seen since September
  • a lot of sunshine
  • big sunglasses
  • attending a wedding in the same temple we were married in
  • visiting lovely pregnant and non pregnant best friends :)
  • making more yummy treats like peanut butter bars
  • spending more mornings like this one, waking up to a smiling husband with the sun shining in
  • more time to read
  • more time to enjoy just time

I hope you are all having a marvelous weekend!
